The Biblical Canon of
the Codices Ambrosiani

The Codices Ambrosiani A–E are five biblical manuscripts in Syriac dating to the 6th–11th centuries CE now in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan. Normally dated to the 7th century, the consensus is that it is not older than the 6th century.  Complete Syriac OT MSS are extremely rare as there are only three complete OT MSS from the seventh century to the ninth century; 7a1 (seventh century), 8a1 (eighth century), and 9a1 (ninth century). The Old Testament canon from Codex Ambrosianus (7a1) contains the Deuterocanonical books as well as Epistle of Jeremiah, Bel and the Dragon, 4 Ezra, 2 Baruch (Apocalypse of Baruch), 3 and 4 Maccabees, and a part of Josephus on the Maccabees.  The New Testament excluded 2 Peter, 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and Revelation.
